Prisoner Transport

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for transporting prisoners to appear before a judge or stand trial for crimes committed against the state or fellow man.

The Sheriff’s Office also handles extridictions to the Grant County Detention Center for prisoners that must stand before a local judge in Grant County.  These extriditions have taken the Sheriff Office deputies as far as Mexico.  Prisoners can be transported from the jail by car or commercial airliner with travel expenses recovered from the state or in some cases by the prisoner themselves through court ordered restitution.
